What is a gasket? Does the flange field require it?

Do you also need gaskets inside the flange? What is a gasket? Perhaps we know that the connection between pipelines is a flange, but how many people know about flange gaskets? Next, we will introduce the flange gasket.

A flange is a device that connects naturally between pipelines. So flange gasket, also known as a good medium, is the sealing element required for connecting two flanges, which can improve the sealing performance of the flange, also known as flange gasket.

What are the common gaskets? We can see that there are non water ingress gaskets made of non-conductive materials such as rubber, synthetic resin, and asbestos. There are also semi metallic gaskets made of both metallic and non-metallic materials. There are also V-shaped and W-shaped spiral wound gaskets.

Of course, flange gaskets or washers can improve the sealing performance of flanges, but for bolted flange joints that work for long periods of time at high temperatures, the fit between gaskets and bolts is also crucial. Sometimes, we find that due to the relaxation of washers and bolts, the stress on the washers gradually decreases, and the sealing reliability of flange joints gradually decreases, ultimately leading to leakage failures. This kind of thing is the most terrifying! To solve the sealing problem of flange joints, high-temperature sealant can be used for sealing. This can be applied to high-temperature and high-pressure working conditions on smooth and flat sealing surfaces (butt joints). There are also sealing metal joints: flange gaskets can also be used for steam and gas turbines, compressors, pumps, bearing seats, flange joints, etc. The sealing surface and joints have excellent adhesion, ensuring a pressure of up to 250 kilograms per square meter. Usually suitable for the widespread use of instrument and pressure vessel flanges, bearing races, bolt flanges, bearing rings, bent needle flanges, support washers, sealing washers, flat flanges, and butt welding flanges.
